FOR THE RIGHT BALANCE
The Chase Bays Adjustable Preload Valve is designed to adjust front and rear brake preload. In most cases you want the front brakes to have more pressure than the rear brakes to get a good balance. This product is included in our popular Brake Line Relocation Kits (with various fittings attached).
It is made from 6061 aluminum with a Delrin adjustment knob. It is black anodized and has the Chase Bays logo lasered on both sides. It has a 1/8 NPT thread and includes two black straight adapters from 1/8 NPT to -3AN.
HOW TO SET IT RIGHT
• When the knob is screwed in all the way in/down, it releases 90% of the total brake pressure to the rear. (10% reduction)
• When the knob is screwed all the way out/up, it releases 40% of total brake pressure to the rear. (60% reduction)
These adjustments allow you to fine-tune front-to-rear brake balance by proportionally reducing rear (or front, in some cases) brake line pressure. If the adjustment range of the valve is insufficient to properly compensate for the vehicle's preload, modifications to other components within the system may be required. This product requires custom brake lines in most cases.
There is no specific setup per car, different front and rear weights for each setup change everything in terms of brake balance. We recommend starting with the knob turned all the way out/up to create the least amount of backward pressure. You can then adjust the button all the way down. This shows you both extremes and gives you a better insight into the direction you need to go.
