WHAT DOES AN AND DASH MEAN?
Hoses and connection threads are usually given in dash sizes in motorsport. Dash sizes are based on American Air-Force and Navy (AN) specifications and are calculated as follows: Multiply the nominal hose diameter (specified internationally in inches) by 16. For example, a 1/2" hose is a Dash 8 and a 1" hose the size Dash 16.
The appropriate connections and threads are also given in Dash (AN). The most common thread type used in motorsport is the JIC tapered thread (now SAE 37°), where the male thread has a convex taper and the female thread has a concave taper of 37°, eliminating the need for a sealing ring.
The designation of the JIC thread is either in the Dash size, eg 3 JIC or -3AN or with the thread dimension in inches eg 3/8 JIC or 3/8x24 JIC. Just like metric threads, JIC threads are specified with the actual diameter of the external thread.
VERSATILE APPLICABLE
With the hose fittings and the associated hydraulic hoses, you can make your own oil, water and fuel lines. Thanks to the screw connections, the lines are tight and pressure-resistant up to at least 35 bar without the need for a press tool.
We recommend -4 AN for oil feed lines (fits on GT-R inlet adapter and on the integral EFR reducer), -10 AN for oil return lines (fits on threaded return flanges). It is best to choose fuel and water lines according to the specifications of the connections or petrol pumps.
The DIS fittings are simply screwed onto the appropriate hoses. Fittings marked "rotatable" are still completely rotatable after assembly.
Depending on the area of application, we recommend turning at least one side.
